This page explains how PetCompare Hub compares and ranks pet care services, how we make money, and how we handle corrections.

Editorial independence

Organic rankings reflect publicly available information about each provider, not commercial relationships. If sponsored listings are introduced, they will appear in a separate, clearly labelled block and will not change organic ranking. Commercial relationships do not determine which providers appear or in what order.

How we make money right now

PetCompare Hub is free for pet owners. Paid listing plans and subscriptions are currently paused, sponsored placement is not currently running, we do not currently run a referral-commission programme, and advertising is switched off unless site approval and a certified consent management platform are in place. If any of these are introduced, we will say so and label them clearly, and none of them will affect organic ranking or verification.

Sourcing

We use publicly available business information, provider websites, and independent review aggregates, so listings can be incomplete or out of date. Ratings and prices are only shown where we can attribute a source. We do not run continuous or automated credential monitoring; verification evidence is reviewed again when details change or a report is raised, and a badge can be removed when the evidence no longer holds.

What we do not do

We do not physically test policies or services. We do not operate a vet panel. Articles are editorially prepared by PetCompare and are not veterinary advice, unless an article explicitly names a reviewing veterinary professional.

How we check directory data (UK data-quality snapshot, as at 18 August 2026)

Most UK records are compiled from publicly available business information and are not PetCompare Verified. As at 18 August 2026 the UK directory held 4,909 public listings, of which 1,527 were checked within the last 90 days and 221 were identity source-matched within the last 90 days. 64 high-confidence contradictory coordinate pairs were withheld rather than guessed, with the original coordinates kept in our audit log.

"Identity source-matched" means the listing's identity and contact details were corroborated against the business's own official website. It is not verification of every service, feature, price, rating, licence or quality claim. The check fails closed on uncertain matches, and it is separate from PetCompare Verified, which requires an approved claim plus evidence reviewed by our team. These counts are a dated snapshot and will change.
